Mrs. Phelps ran home with tears streaming down her face. She ran into her house, slammed the door, and ran into her bedroom.
"Now that stupid poem and Mr. Montag has me all upset", Mrs. Phelps said to herself.
Mrs. Phelps tried to stop, but she kept on crying anyway. She didn't know why she was crying.
"I don't remember there being a rule that firemen could bring books home. I would know if there was a rule like that."
Mrs. Phelps thought about what had happened, and came to realize that Mr. Montag had broken the law by bringing that book home.
"I could call the cops, but what about Mildred?"
Mrs. Phelps thought about the situation, then stopped thinking because it gave her a headache. Since she didn't like thinking about it, she just decided she would call the police. She hurried over to the phone, and she still hadn't quite stopped crying. She dialed the number and the phone began to ring.
"Hello, I am Clara Phelps, I am reporting that there are books at the Montag residence!"
After a brief phone call, Mrs. Phelps had calmed down quite a bit. She sat down on the couch, turned on the "family" and within minutes had already forgotten the whole situation.
